Washington ferry strikes mooring dock

SEATTLE – The Coast Guard and Washington State Ferries are investigating a ferry after it struck its mooring dock at Bremerton, Wash., today.

The 143-foot ferry, Snohomish, struck the mooring dock at approximately 5 p.m. today, causing five reported minor injuries.

Washington State Ferry officials are coordinating mandatory drug and alcohol testing for ferry personnel involved in the incident.

Upon verification that the Snohomish sustained no significant damage, the Coast Guard authorized the ferry to return to normal service at 7:15 p.m.
