Video of a C-130 Landing on French Frigate Shoals

Back in my Coast Guard days, there was a joke that there was a woman behind every tree on French Frigate Shoals, there just weren’t any trees. This video of a U.S. Coast Guard C-130 long-range search plane from Air Station Barbers Point lands on Tern Island in the French Frigate Shoals shows that the joke wasn’t far from the truth.

Officials from the Honolulu-based U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service contacted Coast Guard search and rescue coordinators in Honolulu at approximately 2 p.m. Tuesday requesting the evacuation of their personnel as a precaution to the inbound Hurricane Neki.
