Vessel runs aground near Salem, Oregon

PORTLAND, Ore. — The Coast Guard is responding to a grounded vessel on the Willamette River  near Salem, Oregon.

Coast Guard Sector Portland recieved a report that the commercial passenger vessel Willamette Queen ran aground in the vicinity of McLain Island on the Willamette River near Salem with 22 people on board. The passengers were removed from the vessel while the captain and an engineer remained aboard to monitor the situation. No injuries have been reported.

Coast Guard pollution investigators and marine inspectors have been dispatched to the scene to examine the vessel and search for any signs of pollution.
