Coast Guard to enforce safety zone during Fair St. Louis

ST. LOUIS — The Coast Guard will implement waterfront safety measures on the Mississippi River during the upcoming Fair St. Louis 4th of July celebration.

The safety zone prohibits all commercial and recreational vessel traffic from operating on the Mississippi River between the Poplar Street Bridge at mile marker 179.0 and the Eads Bridge at mile marker 180.0 during air shows and fireworks display.

The safety zone is scheduled to be in effect from:

  • Friday, July 6, 2018, from 8:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, July 7, 2018, from 8:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m.

Boaters can tune their VHF-radios to channels 16 or 22A for broadcast notices to mariners. The Coast Guard, Coast Guard Auxiliary, Missouri Water Patrol and the St. Louis Fire Department will be patrolling the area and will assist and guide boaters.

Boaters violating the safety zone will be subject to potential federal or civil penalties.
