U.S and Canadian Coast Guards search for two missing boaters

SEATTLE — The Coast Guard is searching for two boaters reported missing near Port Angeles, Wash., Saturday.

Coast Guard Group Port Angeles received a call at 11 p.m. from the wife of Brook Bennett stating that her husband and his friend Rob Larsen had left for a fishing trip at 5 p.m., and had not returned.

The Coast Guard launched a rescue helicopter from Air Station Port Angeles, a small response boat from Station Port Angeles and the Cutters Adelie and Wahoo, both homeported in Port Angeles.

The Canadian Coast Guard also launched two cutters to assist in the search.

The Coast Guard and Canadian Coast Guard are searching a 200 square mile area north of Ediz Hook in Port Angeles.

Bennett and Larsen are reported to be fishing in a 14-foot blue and green skiff with a windshield.
