Update on Ohio River Bridge Allision

PARKERSBURG W. Va – The Coast Guard is coordinating clean-up efforts today along with local fire officials and industry partners in response to the CSX B&O Rail Road Bridge allision that occurred yesterday at approximately mile marker 184 on the Ohio River.

Local fire officials closed the Parkersburg-Belpre and B&O Rail Road bridges as a precaution yesterday after the tow boat Darin Adrina allided with B&O Rail Road Bridge.

Crewmembers from the Coast Guard’s Marine Safety Unit in Huntington W.Va., along with local tow vessels and the local fire departments participated in the barge removal and coralling operation.

At 10 p.m. Wednesday, all barges had been removed and or corralled and both bridges were re-opened, after being deemed safe for transit.

The Coast Guard is investigating the incident.
