CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Coast Guard, Texas General Land Office, and Bouchard Transportation representatives have completed the response to the oil discharged from a barge three miles off the jetties of Port Aransas, Texas.
Beach assessment and cleanup teams have finished removing the oil that impacted the shorelines of Mustang Island, North Padre Island and Corpus Christ Bay Islands.
“The Unified Command has completed a comprehensive beach assessment and cleanup operation,” said Capt. Tony Hahn, Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi sector commander. “The Natural Resource Trustees and other stakeholders have certified that the shoreline is back to pre-event conditions, however, all will continue to regularly monitor the area now that the agencies are returning to normal operations. We are very proud of the exemplary team effort that was required to stop the discharge of oil from the barge and clean up our local beaches.”
