CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A Unified Command consisting of Coast Guard, Texas General Land Office, Genesis Energy and RLB Contracting Inc., has completed damage assessments of a natural gas pipeline and reopened waterways near Port O’Connor, Texas, Friday.
The Captain of the Port for the Port of Corpus Christi, Coast Guard Capt. Tony Hahn, reopened the Intracoastal Waterway to vessel traffic from mile marker 468 to mile marker 474, to include the Matagorda Ship Channel from the jetties to seven nautical miles inside the bay.
An Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, hydrographic survey team, completed a survey of the damaged pipeline and confirmed pipe does not protrude from the ocean floor.
“I’m proud of the work our response teams have done to ensure we were able to open the waterways as quickly and safely as possible,” said Capt. Tony Hahn, Coast Guard Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi commanding officer.
