U.S. Coast Guard crew medically evacuates fishing vessel crewman

BLOCK ISLAND, R.I. — A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter crew is medically evacuating an injured crewman from the fishing vessel Atlantic Prince, 50-miles south of Block Island, March 15, 2011.

Coast Guard watchstanders received a report from the captain of the New Bedford, Mass., fishing vessel that a 26-year old male on board suffered an eye injury at approximately 7:15 p.m.

An HH-60 rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod launched immediately to aid the injured man.

The man was hoisted and is being transported to Massachusetts General Hospital.

The man was reported to be in stable condition.
