U.S.,Canadian Coast Guard respond to disabled fishing vessel

Coast Guard Sector New England LogoROCKLAND, Maine – U.S. Coast Guard crews are responding to a fishing vessel that became disabled 40 miles east of Rockland, Maine, Feb.20, 2011.

Coast Guard watchstanders from Sector Northern New England received notification from the fishing vessel Meridian’s captain that the vessel had become disabled due to a generator.

The Coast Guard Cutter Grand Isle and Canadian Coast Guard Cutter Earl Grey are en-route to the Meridian’s location.

Coast Guard Sector Northern New England watchstanders are maintaining communications with the vessel via marine radio.

Meridian’s crew is reported to be in good condition.
