Two men rescued from capsized boat

11th Coast Guard District NewsALAMEDA, Calf. – The two men who were in the water after their boat capsized were rescued and taken by the Oyster Point Marina Harbor Master to the Oyster Point Marina and transferred to awaiting EMS this afternoon.

The passengers were reported to be a man and his adult son. They were out fishing near Sierra Point when their boat capsized.

The incident occurred after a reported collision between a 19-foot boat and another larger vessel. One man clung to the hull of the overturned boat and the other was trapped underneath the vessel. The rescuers had to overcome a language barrier to realize the man’s son was trapped, then right the capsized vessel to rescue him.

Early reports from the scene indicated that another person might have been missing. Search and rescue officials searched the area until it was confirmed that only two people were aboard the small boat.

A Coast Guard 25-foot response crew from Station San Francisco is on scene conducting an initial investigation into the incident.
