SEATTLE – Two fishermen were air-lifted by the Coast Guard Friday west of Ilwaco, Wash.
Coast Guard Station Cape Disappointment received the call at approximately 5 p.m. and passed the information to Coast Guard Group/Air Station Astoria.
Group/Air Station Astoria launched an HH-60 helicopter crew which air-lifted the two men and brought them to shore.
The men became stranded on Old Fisherman Rock, located south of Seaview, Wash., by the rising tide. Neither man was injured.
Group/Air Station Astoria is located at the Astoria Regional Airport in Warrenton, Ore. The missions of the Group/Air Station include search and rescue, law enforcement, aids to navigation support and environmental protection.
