CAPE MAY, N.J. – The Coast Guard Recruit Training Board of Advisors is holding their quarterly meeting, Monday, at Coast Guard Training Center Cape May, to review and validate the vision, mission, strategic plan, and purpose of recruit training.

The board is expected to provide input and support to several training center initiatives such as findings from the new fitness program, a review of the company commander selection process, and to align our training with the needs of the fleet.

“Hosting the Board of Advisors meeting assists in helping make decisions, guide our growth, and ensure Training Center Cape May aligns our core missions with the needs of all of our stake holders,” said Capt. Owen Gibbons, commanding officer of Training Center Cape May. “These important discussions are shared at the highest levels of leadership and help to ensure the Training Center produces the ready, relevant and responsive workforce our service and our nation expects.”

The board consists of leaders throughout the Coast Guard including Rear Adm. Brian Penoyer, commander of Coast Guard Force Readiness Command, and Master Chief Jeffery Ryan, command master chief of Force Readiness Command.

The meeting is scheduled to end Tuesday.
