Three People Rescued South of Branford, Connecticut

NEW YORK – Three East Haven, Conn., natives were rescued after their vessel became disabled south of Brandford, Conn. around 6 a.m. today.

The mariners in the adrift vessel had been missing for near six and a half hours before they were located near the Thimble Islands. A concerned relative contacted Sea Tow after they failed to return to port.

The three people were rescued following a multi-agency search that involved the Branford Fire Department, the Connecticut State Police, Sea Tow and Coast Guard assets.

“The Coast Guard utilized all of its resources from the command center and worked very closely with local authorities to bring this case to a successful conclusion,” said LT. j.g. Christopher Miller, a Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound command duty officer. “The mariners we located are being towed to Branford where we will address any medical concerns.”

All three individuals were reported to be in good condition.
