HONOLULU – Rear Adm. Sally Brice-O’Hara, lots of other Coast Guard men and women, along with guest readers from Honolulu are celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday Friday morning at Kalihi Waena Elementary School. March 2 is the 103rd anniversary for Dr. Seuss’s birthday and the 50th anniversary of ‘The Cat in the Hat.’
About a hundred guest readers from federal, state and local government offices, University of Hawaii, local businesses and Coast Guard personnel will read books to the students at the school in support of the Read Across America celebration.
An HH-65 Dolphin helicopter and crew from Air Station Barbers Point will make a special appearance at the school, as will a rescue boat and a fire engine from the Honolulu Fire Department.
The school choir, cheerleaders and hula dancers will perform for the group before the students adjourn back to their regular schedule.
