Temporary No Wake Zones To Be Enforced During Pensacola Air Show

Mobile, AL (D8 Public Affairs) – Sector Mobile announced today that the Coast Guard will be enforcing no wake zones around the Pensacola Beach Bridge and the Pensacola Land Cut during the Pensacola Air Show this Friday and Saturday, 11th and 12th of July, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. both days.

Coast Guard Station Pensacola will out patrolling during the Pensacola Air Show to maintain safety during the event.  Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the Escambia Sheriffs Office will also be assisting with patrols.  Because of increased activity two temporary no wake zones have been set up: the Pensacola Beach Bridge (a.k.a. Bob Sykes Bridge) 1NM east and west of the bridge, including quietwater beach, and the Pensacola Land Cut.

Boat operators are responsible for their wake and any damage it may cause.  Violators can be fined.  “We want to make sure the public takes extra care in these potentially dangerous areas” says Petty Officer Dovonan of Station Pensacola.

The Coast Guard can be contacted on VHF radio, channels 16 or 22, or 850-453-8282.
