JUNEAU, Alaska—The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Maple worked with scientists from the U.S. Geological Survey to deploy 12 seismic sensors along the Queen Charlotte-Fairweather Fault, northwest of Craig, Alaska, Friday and Saturday. The ice breaking polar bear study

His tranquillizer dart hits the bear in the muscle between her shoulder blades. The bear slows her run, staggers, and collapses on the ground. Two more well placed shots sedate her cubs.
