Customs and Border Protection Launches the New Predator B Guardian UAS
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) took delivery Monday of the first maritime variant of the Predator B unmanned aircraft system (UAS). At a ceremony in Palmdale, California, CBP, U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), and General Atomics Aeronatuical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) unveiled the prototype maritime variant Predator B, known as Guardian.

After eight years of testing the Department of Defense Unmanned Aircraft Systems program, the U.S. Coast Guard has its first qualified operational UAS pilot ready to develop and implement training and standardization for the service’s newest branch of aviation assets—UAVs or Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.
