VENTURA, Calif – Last night the Coast Guard responded to a vessel in distress at Santa Cruz Island. At approximately 11:03 p.m. the sailing vessel SEA SHINE radioed the Coast Guard advising that the vessel had run aground and was taking on water.

SAN PEDRO, Calif. — The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Halibut, homeported in Marina Del Ray, Calif., assisted a stranded sailor Tuesday, October 14, 2008, 100 miles off the coast of southern California. The boater was sailing his 44-foot sailboat to California from Hawaii when he ran out of fuel.
Coast Guard medevacs diver from near Anacapa Island
CHANNEL ISLANDS, Calif. – Coast Guard Station Channel Islands medevaced a 49 year-old diver this morning off the diving vessel Peace near the coast of Anacapa Island.
The diver complained of severe abdominal pains and nausea about thirty minutes after his first dive. Station Channel Islands launched a 47-foot motor-lifeboat to the scene shortly after the report was received.
