Coast Guard, partner agencies to announce establishment of new North Carolina ferry route
PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Personnel from the U.S. Coast Guard, Army Corps of Engineers and the North Carolina Department of Transportation are scheduled to announce the establishment of the Barney Slough ferry route Monday between Hatteras Island, North Carolina, and Ocracoke Island, North Carolina at the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum.

Coast Guard medevacs 18-month-old boy from Ocracoke
PORTSMOUTH, Va. – A Coast Guard HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter rescue crew transported a 17-month-old boy and his mother from Ocracoke Island, N.C. to Norfolk, Va., Friday.
The boy was suffering from a high fever and respiratory distress.
