Coast Guard training flight disrupted by laser
DEPOE BAY, Ore. — A Coast Guard helicopter crew’s training mission near Depoe Bay on Sept. 12 was disrupted when a green laser lit up the cockpit.
Green and red lasers pose a significant hazard to flight and boatcrews, especially when the helicopter crews are operating at low altitude at night or the boatcrews are battling treacherous conditions.

North Bend, Ore. – The Coast Guard medically evacuated an injured crewman from a fish processing vessel that was 40 miles southwest of Coos Bay, Ore. at approximately 12:10 a.m., Friday.
