JUNEAU, Alaska – Rear Adm. Gene Brooks, Commander, Seventeenth Coast Guard District and Capt. Melissa Bert, Commander, Coast Guard Sector Juneau, temporarily relieved Senior Chief Petty Officer James Madsen Thursday from his duties as Officer in Charge of the Cutter Elderberry for loss of confidence in the ability to command.

JUNEAU, Alaska – Crew members aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Elderberry, a 65-foot inland buoy tender homeported in Petersburg, Alaska, placed 18 buoys in the Gastineau channel which runs through the Mendenhall Bar Wednesday.

JUNEAU, Alaska – The Seventeenth Coast Guard District is once again hosting its annual District Buoy Tender Roundup in Juneau this week which includes cutters homeported throughout Alaska as well as a Canadian vessel.
