WINCHESTER BAY, Ore. — Coast Guard Station Umpqua River will hold a change-of-command and change-of-watch ceremony, Friday.
Senior Chief Petty Officer David Pierias will relieve Master Chief Petty Officer James Clemens as officer-in-charge, and Clemens will retire after 30 years of Coast Guard service.
Clemens will also be relinquishing the title of Ancient Keeper, presented to an active duty Coast Guardsman in recognition of their longevity in command of a boat force unit and outstanding performance in boat operations.
Commandant of the Coast Guard, Adm. Paul Zukunft, will preside over the Ancient Keeper change of watch, and Capt. Michael Trimpert, commander of Coast Guard Sector North Bend, will preside over the Station Umpqua River change-of-command ceremony.
