JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Coast Guard Station Mayport, Fla., personnel medically evacuated a 74 year-old man with heart attack like symptoms from the Carnival cruise ship Celebration Saturday evening.
Wendell Muse, residence unknown, was suffering from chest pains Saturday evening shortly after the Celebration departed Jacksonville. The Celebration then immediately contacted the Coast Guard and requested assistance for Muse.
A station Mayport 47-foot motor life boat crew launched to assist Muse. When the Coast Guard arrived on scene, Muse was transferred to the 47-foot MLB and brought back to awaiting EMS crews at station Mayport.
Local EMS then transferred Muse to Baptist Medical Center-Beaches.
