FT. MYERS BEACH, Fla. – The Coast Guard medically evacuated a woman from a vessel near Ft. Myers Beach, Fla., Wednesday, after she was reported to be suffering from severe abdominal pains.
A Coast Guard Station Fort Myers Beach boatcrew medically evacuated Martha Dohner, 48, from the 24-foot sailing vessel Elissa, at approximately 1:49 p.m. Wednesday in Back Bay, Fort Myers Beach
At 1:22 p.m., watchstanders at Station Fort Myers Beach received a cell phone call from Dohner, requesting assistance due to severe abdominal pain. After relaying the information to watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg command center, the immediate launch of a Fort Myers Beach 33-foot response boat crew was directed.
While enroute, the boatcrew picked up a Lee County Sheriff emergency medical responder, at Salty Sams Marina, at approximately 1:36 p.m.
Once on scene, the boatcrew and Lee County responder safely transferred Dohner to the boat and transported her to back to Salty Sams Marina at approximately 1:54 p.m delivering her to awaiting EMS.
Dohner’s condition is unknown.
