Security zones enforced for PG&E equipment blocking Sacramento River

Coast Guard District 11 NewsSAN FRANCISCO — Coast Guard Station Rio Vista’s crew and Solano County Sheriff’s deputies are jointly enforcing a safety zone around Pacific Gas & Electric equipment that fell in the water early this morning on the Sacramento River west of Antioch.

The static wires blocked the Sacramento River deep draft water channel near the vicinity of Light 12.

The Coast Guard Captain of the Port closed the waterway to vessel traffic until the river is declared safe for travel. A safety marine information broadcast was issued to recreational and commercial vessel traffic.

PG&E technicians are onscene and making repairs as appropriate.

The Coast Guard asks the public to cooperate by steering clear of the area until the waterways are re-opened to vessel traffic.
