Secretary Forwards Senior Leadership Recommendations to White House

The coast Guard announced today, via the Commandants web journal, that the Secretary recommended to the President the following senior leadership nominations.

Vice Commandant, VADM Dave Pekoske
Pacific Area Commander, RADM Jody Breckenridge
Chief of Staff, RADM John Currier

VADM Papp will continue to serve as Atlantic Area Commander and RADM Sally Brice-O’Hara continues as Deputy Commandant for Operations (DCO).

Here’s a little bit about those recommended :

Vice Admiral David P. Pekoske assumed his duties as Commander, Coast Guard Pacific Area in May 2008. The Area of Operations for this command encompasses over 73 million square miles throughout the Pacific Basin to the Far East. Vice Admiral Pekoske oversees the operation of units performing missions in maritime safety, maritime mobility, protection of natural resources, maritime security, homeland security, and national defense.

Rear Admiral Jody A. Breckenridge assumed duties as the Director, Strategic Transformation Team on July 16, 2007. She is responsible for aligning and synchronizing the efforts to transform and modernize the Coast Guard. Rear Admiral Breckenridge also assumed the duties of the Assistant Commandant for Human Resources on May 30, 2008. The Human Resources Directorate is made up of HR professionals, military and civilian, with one distinct mission: to meet the people needs of the Coast Guard while meeting the needs of Coast Guard people.

Rear Admiral John P. Currier currently serves as Commander, Thirteenth Coast Guard District. A Coast Guard aviator since 1977, he has over 6,000 hours of flight time. Prior to his promotion to flag rank he served as Pacific Area Chief of Staff. Subsequent to his promotion he served as Assistant Commandant for Acquisitions and then took over as Thirteenth District Commander.
