Seattle Coast Guard Auxiliary to host Third Annual Boater’s Fair

SEATTLE – Get ready for a fun, safe boating season! The Coast Guard Auxiliary will be sponsoring the Third Annual Boater’s Fair at the Bainbridge Island Public Dock and the Commons on Bainbridge Island, Wash., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., May 10, 2008.

Events will include a live helicopter search and rescue demonstration and a flare demonstration. Coast Guard boat crew members as well as personnel from the local city fire and police departments will be in attendance with their water craft.

Discover the latest in personal survival equipment, learn what to do if you fall in the water and how to radio for help.

Interact with fellow boaters, exchange boating tips and explore the presentations/demonstrations:

  • Hands-on “live” fire extinguisher opportunity
  • Kids ‘N Water (inter-active mini-course for kids)
  • Check out your Nautical Skills and Knowledge
  • Find out how to get your Boater’s Education Card, sign up for a class or challenge the test
  • Bring your Boater’s Education Card to enter a drawing for a free ride on the City’s Police Boat

This boater’s fair is sponsored by the local Coast Guard Auxiliary in an effort to bring awareness to the importance of being safe on the water and as well as having fun.

Hot dogs, soft drinks and chips are available for purchase.

This event is only a 10-minute walk from the Seattle/Bainbridge ferry.

The local Coast Guard Auxiliary serves the communities of North Kitsap County: Hansville, Indianola, Kingston, Poulsbo, Suquamish, Silverdale and Bainbridge Island in Wash.

This event is free to the public.
