Search for woman near Palos Verdes continues

Pacific Southwest Coast Guard NewsSAN PEDRO, Calif. – The Coast Guard and local responders are continuing their search efforts for a woman off the coast of Palos Verdes, Calif., who was reported missing around 11 p.m., Aug. 11.

The 49-year-old woman was snorkeling alone near the Terranea Resort but did not return as planned. Her husband contacted the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department who searched and found the woman’s car and belongings.

The Coast Guard launched a MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Air Station Los Angeles and a 45-foot Response Boat Medium from Station Los Angeles-Long Beach, who both conducted searches throughout the night. The Coast Guard Cutter Narwhal, based out of Corona Del Mar, Calif., was also sent in the search pattern. A Baywatch Cabrillo boat crew and a LA County Sheriff’s helicopter also conducted searches into the night.

Four divers with Baywatch Marina Del Ray were launched Sunday morning to begin sub-surface searches.

    Why hasn’t the woman’s information or photo been posted/included within the article? This may have been an unfortunate accident, but in moments like this all possibilities need to be explored. In the event of foul play, her face needs to be known. Someone somewhere may have seen her and be able to shred light on what may have happened or point the authorities in the right direction.
