San Francisco Bay Bridge “bumped” by container ship

AP is reporting that a container ship bumped a support tower of the San Francisco Bay Bridge this morning about 8:30.  Coast Guard officials say there is no damage to the bridge and the the ship is anchored North of Treasure Island while the incident is being investigated.

This is the second incident this week of a ship hitting a fixed object, as Ambrose Light in New York was hit by a tanker on Sunday.
