HOUSTON – Rough, choppy waters have slowed the search for a missing 24-year-old man, last seen duck hunting on the north side of Trinity Bay, Texas, this morning.
As the weather continued to deteriorate this afternoon and winds began to pick up, Matt Hoover separated from the two other members of his hunting party to round up their drifting decoy ducks. Shortly after the tall, slender man left in his green 16-foot boat, heavy fog rolled into the area.
Texas Parks and Wildlife boats and other boaters searching for the man were forced to shore by rain and 4-foot swells in the bay.
Coast Guard Air Station Houston launched an HH-65C Dolphin helicopter to conduct an early evening flight, searching for the man. They will launch again later this evening wearing night vision goggles and concentrating their search to the shoreline areas.
Trinity Bay is located in the far northern area of Galveston Bay.
