Response continues for Pacific Northwest flooding

SEATTLE — Coast Guard, state, local and other federal agencies continued to provide aid to flood-effected areas in the Pacific Northwest on Friday.

Since Tuesday, the Coast Guard has rescued 14 people and two dogs in the area of Morton, Wash. Crews of Coast Guard boats, helicopters and other aircraft were called in to assist from units as far away as San Diego to provide support for search and rescue missions.

Flooding in the Chehalis, Wash., area resulted in the rescue of 106 people and six animals over the course of two days in December 2007.
