HONOLULU – Coast Guard rescue crews are searching for a 57-year-old fisherman reported overboard approximately 13 miles south of Hawaii Kai, Saturday.
The fisherman’s wife notified watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Honolulu at 8:50 a.m. that her husband fell overboard while fishing and was not wearing a lifejacket.
A 45-foot Response Boat-Medium from Coast Guard Station Honolulu and an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point are conducting a search.
Maritime accidents can occur quickly and without warning. The Coast Guard recommends mariners wear life jackets at all times while on the water.
