Rear Admiral Ronald T. Hewitt Official Bio

RDML Ronald T. Hewitt is currently serving as the Assistant Commandant for Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Information Technology (CG-6) and is also the Coast Guard’s Chief Information Officer. His previous assignment was Director, Command, Control, Communications and Computers in the Systems Directorate. Other assignments include Project Manager for both the National Distress and Response System Modernization Project (NDRSMP) known as Rescue 21 and the Marine Information for Safety and Law Enforcement project (MISLE) under the Acquisition Directorate, Coast Guard Headquarters; Commanding Officer, Electronics Support Unit Boston; Planning and Programming Staff, Office of Command, Control and Communications, Coast Guard Headquarters; Executive Officer, Communications Area Master Station Pacific, Point Reyes Station, California; the Omega Navigation Systems Center in Alexandria, Virginia; and the Electronics Engineering Center in Wildwood, New Jersey.

RDML Hewitt, a native of Oregon, graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in 1978. He holds a Master of Science Degree from the University of Purdue in Electrical Engineering. He received a Master’s Certificate in Information Technology Project Management from George Washington University and is a certified Project Management Professional.

RDML Hewitt has been awarded the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), the Coast Guard Commendation Medal (two awards), the Coast Guard Achievement Medal, the Commandant’s Letter of Commendation among other service medals and awards.
