Portsmouth, VA Becomes the Ninth Coast Guard City

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Coast Guard officials announced that Portsmouth was named the ninth Coast Guard City at a news conference Wednesday morning, Dec. 16, 2009, at Lightship Portsmouth.

Rear Adm. Wayne E. Justice, commander of Coast Guard Fifth District, thanked Portsmouth Mayor James W. Holley III for the city's hospitality and highlighted the 200 years of their shared history.
