Passenger boat runs aground in Intracoastal Waterway near Ormond Beach, Fla.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The 85-foot passenger boat Starlite Princess based in Daytona Beach, Fla., is returning to port after the vessel ran aground in the Intracoastal Waterway near Ormond Beach, Fla., Friday.

Operators aboard the Starlite Princess freed the vessel at approximately 12:30 a.m. Saturday and is enroute for its homeport located at Caribbean Jacks in Daytona Beach.

Initial reports estimated that 150 passengers and crew were onboard the vessel at the time of the grounding. Rescue boat crews from Coast Guard Station Ponce de Leon Inlet based in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission and Sea Tow responded. There are no reports of injuries or pollution.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.
