LOS ANGELES – The Coast Guard worked with state, local and federal agencies in a multi agency strike force operation (MASFO) that targeted shipping containers entering and leaving the port of Los Angeles and Long Beach over a two day period, Oct. 31, 2012.
The operation of six check points composed of members of the Coast Guard, Customs and Border Protection and Transportation Security Administration. Members at each check point worked together to inspect a variety of aspects of goods leaving the port such as licensing, storage, labeling, security and to ensure hazardous materials are being properly transported.
Containers leaving ships were opened and inspected, while other members inspected containers leaving the port on trucks, to ensure goods are being safely transported to their destinations.
