SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine – One man is dead and another is in the hospital today following a search by the Coast Guard, Hampton Fire Department and good Samaritans for the pair around Hampton Beach, N.H., after their boat reportedly collided with rocks or a jetty.
The deceased male was located on the beach and recovered by the fire department.
The second male, whose condition is unknown, was rescued by a good Samaritan.
After receiving a call from a good Samaritan around 7:15 p.m., Coast Guard Sector Northern New England dispatched a Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Cape Cod, Mass., and 25-foot boat crews from Station Merrimack River, Mass., and Station Portsmouth Harbor, N.H.
