No oil sheen found during Coast Guard investigation

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Coast Guard personnel were dispatched Friday to Turner’s Creek in the vicinity of the commercial shrimping boat Miss Peaches to investigate a reported oil sheen.

The Coast Guard investigated the report and found no oil sheen after receiving notification around noon on Friday.

Personnel from Marine Safety Unit Savannah along with the Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s Marine Patrol and Tow Boat U.S. conducted an on-scene assessment of the waters and adjoining shoreline in the vicinity of the shrimping vessel Miss Peaches where the oil sheen was initially reported. A thorough search of the area found no evidence of oil pollution in the water. In its present location, the Miss Peaches was found not to be blocking a navigable channel.
