New Miami River Restrictitons Due to Partially Submerged Barge

MIAMI — The Coast Guard Captain of the Port, Capt. Karl L. Schultz, has placed new restrictions on vessel traffic due to the partially submerged barge in the Miami River, Monday.

No vessels longer than 45 feet or exceeding 16 feet in width may transit the Miami River where the barge sank. These restrictions are expected to last through Wednesday.

The 195-foot barge buckled and cracked between the Dolphin Expressway Bridge and the NW 12th Ave. Bridge, Saturday. No injuries or pollution have been reported.
