Multi-agency search underway for fisherman overboard in Honolulu Harbor

HONOLULU – Coast Guard, Honolulu Fire Department and Honolulu Harbor Police rescue crews are searching for a 26-year-old male fisherman last seen falling overboard from the fishing vessel Yaozza early Sunday morning at Pier 36 in Honolulu Harbor.

Coast Guard Sector Honolulu search and rescue controllers received a report of he fisherman falling overboard at 3:00 a.m. Sunday. A Honolulu based Coast Guard 25-foot Response Boat crew is searching. Also involved in the search are two fire engines, one rescue boat, a rescue helicopter, and a dive team from the Honolulu Fire Department. Members of the Honolulu Harbor Police are also actively searching in Honolulu Harbor.

The fisherman is reported to be an excellent swimmer and may have safely returned to shore. Anyone with information about the missing man is asked to contact the Coast Guard Sector Honolulu command center at 808-842-2600.
