Multi-Agency search for 2 Atlantic City beachgoers

The Coast Guard Cutter Lawrence LawsonPHILADELPHIA – A multi-agency search is taking place after a report of two beachgoers struggling in the surf in Atlantic City, Thursday.

The Coast Guard received an emergency call stating two swimmers were reportedly struggling in the surf and reportedly went under the water at approximately 7 p.m.

The Coast Guard, New Jersey State Police and local first responders are currently searching for the individuals.

Assets involved in the search are a the 154-foot Coast Guard Cutter Lawrence Lawson, a 29-foot Response Boat-Small rescue crew from Coast Guard Station Atlantic City, an MH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, New Jersey State Police marine units, a New Jersey State Police helicopter crew and members of the Atlantic City Police Department.
