MSST 91105PHILADELPHIA – The Coast Guard, Federal Bureau of Investigation, New Jersey and Delaware State Police, and other maritime security stakeholders will conduct multiple exercises in the mouth of the Delaware Bay October 17 – 22, 2016.

The exercises will involve specialized teams and tactics using both small vessels and aircraft. No live-firing of weapons will take place during the exercise.

The Coast Guard will conduct safety broadcasts on marine VHF channel 16 while exercises are in progress for the awareness and safety of the maritime community.  Recreational and commercial vessel traffic will not be impacted.

The Coast Guard’s Maritime Security Response Team (MSRT) homeported in Chesapeake, Virginia, will conduct the maritime exercises.  The MSRT is the Coast Guard’s advanced law enforcement interdiction team, providing a unique level of support for the Delaware Bay region in an event of national significance.  In the past, they have provided security support for such events as the Super Bowl, the Republican National Convention, and the Papal visit in 2015.
