MSU Lake Charles Boat Forces Division receive high marks after recent inspection

LAKE CHARLES, La – The Coast Guard’s National Standardization Team evaluated Marine Safety Unit Lake Charles, Feb. 23-25, 2009, and the unit scored high enough to rank among the Coast Guard’s best in operational readiness.

MSU Lake Charles received a 94% score overall. Members of the unit’s Boat Forces Division were tested on their professional knowledge and proficiencies in search and rescue operations.

The unit participated in drills around the clock on the Calcasieu River during the evaluation and inspection. The unit’s response boat crews also passed a rigorous technical examination by members of the inspection team.

The Coast Guard is committed to ensuring the operational readiness of all its units through these types of internal inspections. MSU Lake Charles’ primary missions are marine safety and security. They are a subordinate unit of MSU Port Arthur, Texas.
