Missing Connecticut boater found safe

BOSTON – Jim Floroski, the Connecticut boater reported overdue by friends Sunday morning, has been located safe today on Point Judith Pond, R.I.

Floroski called the Coast Guard on VHF-FM Channel 16 reporting he had been camping at the pond.

Coast Guard Station Point Judith personnel are en route to check on the boater and get additional details.

Coast Guard Cutter Ridley from Montauk, New York, searched throughout Sunday night and this morning. A 25-foot boat crew from Coast Guard Station Castle Hill and a Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Cape Cod also searched this morning.

Boat crews from Coast Guard Stations Point Judith and Block Island, a HU-25 Falcon jet and HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from the air staion, a Coast Guard Auxiliary plane and the Civil Air Patrol have also participated in the search.

Floroski was reported overdue by one of the three friends he was expected to meet at the Great Island boat ramp in Point Judith at 7 a.m., Sunday.
