JUNEAU, Alaska. – Coast Guard Air Station Sitka is hosting a memorial service for the aircrew of Coast Guard MH-60 6017 Tuesday at 2 p.m.
The crew of the Air Station Sitka MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter was transiting from Air Station Astoria, Ore., to Sitka Wednesday morning when it went down in the waters off La Push, Wash. All four crewmembers were retrieved from the water. One was taken to a Seattle hospital and three men died.
The Coast Guard Commandant, Adm. Robert J. Papp, will attend from Washington, D.C., as will Vice Adm. Manson Brown, the commander of the Coast Guard’s Pacific Area, headquartered in Alameda, Calif., Rear Adm. Gary T. Blore, the commander of the 13th Coast Guard District and Rear Adm. Christopher Colvin, the commander of the 17th Coast Guard District.
The ceremony will be open to the public. Additionally, the ceremony will be available via webcast. A web address will be provided separately before the ceremony begins.
