SEATTLE – The Coast Guard hoisted a 22-year-old man from a cliff in Little James Island, near La Push, Wash., Tuesday.
Coast Guard Station Quillayute River, Wash., received a call from the La Push Police Department at approximately 12:46 p.m. requesting a helicopter with hoist capabilities for a man suspended 150 feet on a cliff.
Coast Guard Group/Air Station Port Angeles launched an MH-65C helicopter crew at 1:37 p.m., which arrived on scene at approximately 2:00 p.m.
The man was taken to a waiting emergency medical service crew in Quillayute.
The missions of Group/Air Station Port Angeles include maritime search and rescue, enforcement of laws and treaties, providing aids to navigation and marine environmental protection. In addition, the Air Station frequently assists federal, state and county agencies by responding to calls for assistance with inland searches and medical evacuations.
