Man Dies From Injuries at Baker Beach

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — The U. S. Coast Guard transferred a deceased victim from a cliff at Baker Beach today at approximately 5:30 p.m.

Coast Guard Sector San Francisco received a request for assistance from Park Police today at approximately 3:30 p.m. A man, estimated between 35 and 40 years old was stranded with a head injury on a cliff at Baker Beach. An Air Station San Francisco HH-65 Dolphin helicopter was diverted from a training mission to assist, but first needed to refuel. As the helicopter was refueling, the Presidio Fire Department was able to reach the man on foot where he was pronounced dead on scene. Upon arrival, the Coast Guard helicopter lifted the victim into the helicopter and transferred him to nearby emergency services.

The man was a San Francisco resident. His identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
