Hawaii-based Coast Guardsmen to receive Navy League award

HONOLULU — Six members from the Fourteenth Coast Guard District here will be honored by the Honolulu Council Navy League during the 48th Annual Honolulu Navy League’s Sea Service Awards luncheon at the Hale Koa Hotel Friday at 11:30 a.m.

The awards will be presented to 50 junior officers and enlisted personnel from the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Navy to formally recognize their demonstrated excellence in duty and outstanding leadership skills.

Fourteenth Coast Guard District honorees include:

Ensign Chad Beck, stationed aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Walnut; Lt. Andrea Holt and Petty Officer 1st Class Peni Motu, stationed at Coast Guard District Fourteen; Petty Officer 1st Class Laura Bailey, stationed at Integrated Support Command, Honolulu; and Petty Officer 3rd Class Nathan Jakubowski and Petty Officer 2nd Class Nicholas Wright, stationed aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Jarvis.

In a message to Fourteenth Coast Guard District personnel last month, Capt. Stephen Mehling, the district’s chief of staff, said, “I commend the supervisors and commanding officers from units throughout the D14 Hawaii area who took the time to nominate their outstanding junior enlisted and officers for this recognition.”
