KEY WEST, Fla. – Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Bob Calhoun formally thanked the crew of Coast Guard Cutter Kodiak Island Friday for their community service during the last year and a half.
Since July 2009, the crew of the Kodiak Island has contributed more than 2,200 man hours to the organization. The crew spent the time building and renovating homes for families in Big Coppitt, Fla., and Stock Island, Fla.
“I really enjoy working with Habitat for Humanity, the staff love their jobs, and make connecting with the community that much more fun,” said Lt. j.g. Earl Potter, executive officer of the Kodiak Island.
The Kodiak Island is a 110-foot patrol boat homported in Key West.
